Dementia Friendly Saline
Holy Faith Church has been an enthusiastic supporter of the dementia awareness effort in Saline since the local effort began. We were the first church in Saline to become recognized as a Dementia Friend by Dementia Friendly Saline and we hosted Saline's first Dementia Friendly workshop shortly before the pandemic. Currently, we host monthly Memory Cafés for anyone living with memory difficulties and their care partner(s).
Most people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias are not sequestered in special facilities. Instead, they are living in the community, alone or with their partners or families, and these friends and neighbors of ours experience special day-to-day difficulties trying to make their way in the community. While we cannot cure dementia, there are simple steps we can all learn that will allow these friends and neighbors to live their best lives with more dignity and less difficulty. For more information or to volunteer, please visit Dementia Friendly Saline.
What is Dementia Friendly Saline?
Dementia Friendly Saline is a grassroots initiative intended to show residents, businesses, and anyone visiting or looking at Saline, that our community respects and welcomes persons with dementia, and their caregivers, as valued participants in our community.
Persons with dementia are a part of, not apart from, our community.
